About the Role

We’re looking for a creative and user-centric Product Designer to join our team and help shape the future of digital products and experiences at VFX. You’ll work closely with Clients, Product, Engineering, and wider stakeholders to design intuitive, elegant, and impactful user experiences.

This role is suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is passionate about solving real user problems, and is ready for a considerable step-up to spearhead the design function within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Most of the responsibilities will be those of an individual contributor but there will be elements of defining processes and governance on how we do product design at VFX.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product requirements and translate them into user-friendly designs.

• Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals for web and mobile applications.

• Conduct user research and usability testing to validate design decisions and inform the product roadmap.

• Create, maintain, and evolve design systems and component libraries.

• Advocate for design best practices and accessibility standards across the organisation.

• Iterate on designs based on feedback and data insights.

• Confidently present design concepts and rationale to stakeholders.

• Work closely with Product to define and implement A/B tests.

Key Challenges

• Operating across a broad spectrum of user interfaces during a phase of transition and consolidation.

• Balancing user needs with business goals and technical constraints.

• Designing for scalability across multiple platforms and user types.

• Navigating ambiguity in early-stage product development.

• Ensuring consistency while innovating within the design system.

• Managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Candidate Profile

• Strong portfolio showcasing user-centered design solutions across multiple platforms. Be prepared to discuss examples of work you have delivered.

• Proficient in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite (we use Figma but are open-minded).

• Solid understanding of UX principles, interaction design, and visual design.

• Experience working in agile product teams.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Comfortable with feedback and iterative design processes.

• Data-driven decision making with a strong bias to action.

Preferred Background

• 5+ years of experience in Product Design or UX/UI Design.

• Experience in B2B or SaaS Fintech environments is a plus.

• Proven experience creating and maintaining design systems.

• Strong user research skills, including planning and conducting studies.

• Skilled in user testing methodologies and applying insights to improve design.

• Familiarity with front-end development principles (HTML/CSS/JS) is a plus, but not required.

• Degree in Design, HCI, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is a bonus, but not mandatory.

• Experience with modern agile management tools, such as Jira, Confluence, Notion, etc.

• Timely delivery of design assets aligned with product milestones.

• Contribution to the evolution of the design system and design standards.

• Strong collaboration and influence within cross-functional teams.

• Demonstrated impact on product KPIs, including engagement, conversion, and retention.

Interview Process

We aim to respond to all applications within three weeks of submission. If you are successful, you will be contacted for an initial screening call with our People Ops Partner, followed by a 1st stage Teams interview with the hiring manager, followed by an in-person final stage interview at our London office. Due to the nature of the role, there will be a take-home task to prepare for the final interview.
