About the Role
VFX are looking for a curious and detail-driven Risk Analyst to join our growing Risk function. This is a hands-on role supporting the development and day-to-day running of our risk management framework across the business. You’ll work closely with teams across operations, compliance, finance, and tech to help identify, assess, and manage key risks — from operational resilience to regulatory compliance.
This is a great opportunity for someone with 2–3 years’ experience in risk, audit, or compliance who’s looking to deepen their expertise in a fast-paced, regulated fintech environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update the firm’s Risk Register, ensuring risks are accurately recorded, tracked, and escalated.
- Support regular risk assessments across business functions in line with our Risk Management Framework.
- Contribute to the delivery of our operational resilience programme, including mapping important business services and setting impact tolerances.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, conducting root cause analysis and preparing risk event summaries.
- Collaborate with teams across the business to identify and challenge emerging risks.
- Prepare dashboards and reports for the Risk Committee and senior leadership.
- Support scenario analysis, stress testing, and policy reviews.
- Help embed a strong risk culture through workshops, guidance, and awareness initiatives.
Key Challenges
- Managing a wide range of risk topics across multiple business areas.
- Balancing day-to-day responsibilities with longer-term framework development.
- Navigating a regulated environment with evolving expectations.
- Working with legacy systems while supporting automation and process improvement.
Candidate Profile
Experience & Skills
- 2–3 years’ experience in risk, audit, operations, or compliance, ideally in a regulated financial services firm.
- Understanding of enterprise and operational risk principles.
- Hands-on experience with risk registers and risk reporting.
- Familiarity with operational resilience concepts (e.g., business service mapping, impact tolerances).
- Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively across teams.
- High attention to detail and a strong sense of integrity.
Nice to Haves
- Knowledge of UK/EU regulatory frameworks (e.g., FCA Handbook, PSD2, EMRs, MiFID).
- Understanding of IT systems and how they support business services.
- Confidence in challenging assumptions and driving change.
- Exposure to financial risk or scenario analysis.
Success Measures
This role will be successful if within 12 months we see:
- Full ownership of the Risk Register and risk reporting processes.
- Demonstrated understanding of key risk areas across the business.
- Meaningful contributions to operational resilience and risk assessments.
- Improved risk awareness and engagement across teams.
- Tangible improvements to risk processes and documentation.
Development Opportunities
- Exposure to broader regulatory and compliance initiatives.
- Opportunity to contribute to FCA engagement, audits, and regulatory returns.
- Training and certifications support.
